Here's me being awkward because I think Gentleman Reg is very cool.
music video of the day: "Rouse Yourself" by JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound
Because Aubrey Plaza is smoking in a bathtub. Jake Johnson (aka that dude from The New Girl) is also in it too... but whatever. Aubrey Plaza smoking in a tub!
In case you've yet to hear it, check out their amazing Wilco motown cover below. It's pretty great stuff.
JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound are stopping by Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern Friday July 12th. Should be a groovy time.
music video of the day: "Tennis Court" by Lorde
The fact that this girl is 16 just ruined by life because WHHHAAAT EVEEEENNN??? How are you so cool? How are you making such good tunes? ARE YOU AN ALIEN ? YOU MUST BE! YOU'RE A LITTLE ALT GROOVE EINSTEIN! She's from Auckland, New Zealand. She has a no selfie policy Maybe she's some magic hobbit? HOW ARE YOU ONLY 16? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh you guys I can't even. Don't even get me started on Royals. I just. I can't. This is too good. Ugh. LORDY LORDE! Oh my lord. I'm done. Consider The Love Club EP added to my summer playlist.
music video of the day: "Bring The Noize" by M.I.A.
The other day I posted the audio and already we've got a new video to match the new M.I.A. single. Her new album Matangi is due out sometime in the fall. In the meantime I think I'm gonna dust off my 2007 copy of Kala and blast some "Bamboo Banga" with the windows down.
music video of the day: "It's You" by Duck Sauce
A-Trak and Armand Van Helden are back again with another fun tasty track. Eat it up.
music video of the day: "No Stranger" by Small Black
Some romantic chill wave for your Monday blues. It's some pretty synthy sweet stuff.
Now excuse me while I spend my day watching Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight...

Directed and produced by the wonderful weirdo Chad VanGaalen.

What are some fun ways to deal with the all consuming dread of existence?
I think I've watched this 4 times now. It's just so wonderful. And the snot. Oh the snot.
Have a silly Sunday you guys.
music video of the day: "From The Sun" by Unknown Mortal Orchestra
Saturday rainy day hangovers.
music video of the day: "JACK" by BREACH
Because tonight Toronto is burning and I'm going to a ball.
Have a freaky Friday y'all.
Listen: Who Charted ft. Two playlists/charts made by me
You guys know I'm like, waaay into podcasts right? Well one of my favs is a little gem called Who Charted, in which the very funny duo Howard Kremer and Kulap Vilaysack count down some charts. In an act of gratitude I sent em come customized playlists and they were kind enough to make said playlists a part of the show. You can check out those lists and listen to the two eps each one was featured on below. Do it up!
5. "Hurricane" by MS MR
Some delicious New York dark wave with a wonderfully weird video to match. Their debut album Secondhand Rapture just dropped this past May.
4. "Open" by Rhye
LA based duo who have a way of making me melt. Bitter sweet soft PBR&B jams. The kind of music video that hurts your heart but in a good way.
3. "Green Garden" by Laura Mvula
Brit soul-singer who's simply stunning live. This song makes me want to go find my own secret garden to dance in, but in the meantime my bedroom or the nearest park will have to do. Her debut alumb Sing To The Moon is well worth checking out.
2. "Q.U.E.E.N." by Janelle Monae ft. Erykah Badu
Because the booty don't lie. Janelle Monae kills it as always but then Badu comes in and knocks it out of the park. A funky anthem of independence, twerking in the mirror eating wings and throwing the bones on the ground.
and at numbbbeerrr 1......
1. "Need You 100%" by Duke Dumont ft
A number one hit in the UK and in my heart since it came out in February. Impossible not to dance to, which is what makes the music video so funny/fun/fantastic. Contrary to the video's lesson though, I don't think I could ever get sick of this song.
Bonus Entry: "NaNa" by Chance The Rapper
Lately I've been listening to Chance's latest mixtape #AcidRap every morning as I get ready for work. It's so good. I saw him live at SXSW. It was so good. JASH gave him and Hannibal Buress $5,000 to make a video. In keeping with Chance's #SAVEMONEY ethos they pocketed most of it and still ended up with something soooo gooood.
Mad Decent's newest pop princess. Think young LA Mandy Moore 2.0 meets 90s Janet Jackson, but you know... a cute little blonde girl. Super babe who's super new on the scene.
4. "Strictly 4 My Jeeps" by Action Bronson
Did you know Action Bronson has plans to release a cookbook? That's neat right? Explains the killer BBQ set up in the video. Another video highlight includes RiFF RAFF's cameo. "If you know too much, you ain't gonna know enough!" You should also check out his ice-cream truck freestyle.
3. "So Good At Being In Trouble" by Unknown Mortal Orchestra
Soft and oh so smooth with a groove. Perfect for beach lounging in the sun.
What the fuck I gotta prove to a room full of dudes who ain't listening to my words cuz they staring at my shoes. NY based and breaking down barriers with his/her drag rap game. Freaky with no apologies and clever as heck. Off the Cosmic Angel: The Illuminati Prince/ss Mixtape.
1. "World Domination" by Joey Bada$$
Who the fuck passed you the mic and said that you could flow, point em out bitch I wanna know! From last summah's mixtape 1999. His next mixtape Summer Knights is set to drop July 1st. Bonus track:"Word Is Bond"
Happy Friday!
Who's ready to get their BBQ on? GHOST MUSTARD!
music video of the day: "Bad Habit" by Foals
So many bad habits. So little time. This one is hitting me hard. Gotta work on the change. Some bad habits though... they go deep. Why are all bad habits so tough to break? Probably because it's the bad ones that are the most fun. The bad ones that you so easily can slip and sink into. Sigh.
NXNE 2013: Calexico Interview

Sunday June 16th : "Stand Up" by Ludacris ft. Shawnna
Because Sunday night Luda closed up NXNE with a bang. It was mad fun to hear these tracks live. Ps. See if you can spot the Kanye West cameo. Pps. I also interviewed Luda on Sunday and it was jokes. We talked about hashtags. Will post the video once it's up.
Monday June 17th: "My Definition Of A Boombastic Jazz Style" by Dream Warriors
A classic chill jam from the Toronto based duo, to match my Toronto chill Monday full of Trinity Bellwoods + BBQ. Woke up with it suck in my head and it just fit so nicely.
Tuesday June 18th: "Fromdatomb$" by Joey Bada$$ ft. Chuck Strangers
Spent the day at a photo shoot and we had this blasting in the studio. Still so hyped off of his Sunday night YDS show. Love the 1999 mixtape too much.
Wednesday June 19th: "Hood Party" by Fat Tony ft. Kool A.D. & Despot (Produced by Tom Cruz)
Funny video and rad dudes. Was happy to play tour guide for Tony and Tom this weekend after vibing with them on a boat. Watch out for that interview too.
